I was never a believer in feng shui until I was coerced urged to buy an Eight Eye Dzi Beads.
A couple of years ago, we dropped by the World Of Feng Shui's shop in SM Mall of Asia. The Dzi Bead bracelets displayed in the glass-covered reception desk were eye-catchers. The trained shop attendant asked me what my birthday was, checked some chart and suggested several types of Dzi Beads that would best suit me in terms of luck, prosperity and health forecasts at that time.
Now that I reminisce about it, I think it was a case of the Dzi Bead choosing the owner, and not the other way around – the bracelet was there waiting for me to purchase it.
So, after the ownership of the Dzi Bead was transferred to me (at an unbudgeted expense of around Php 5,000 or roughly U.S. $100), the attendant proceeded to performed the ritual of blessing the bracelet. He told me to place the Dzi Bead inside a translucent white glass cylinder. He repeatedly rubbed the rim of the cylindrical container with the edge of a stick until the whole glass cylinder vibrated and hummed. It was then, he said, that I should also make a wish, and so I did. (From time to time, we go to the World of Feng Shui store in The Block in SM North Edsa to have our Dzi Beads "re-blessed".)
Recently, a Feng Shui expert (everybody calls him "Master") consulted by the company advised to rearrange the furniture inside our offices. Master told me that my success direction in this Year of the Ox is South, so I should move my office desk and face that direction while working. He proposed that I also relocate a filing cabinet and place it behind me.
Master also inquired about my birthday and remarked that 2009 will be a very good year, me being born in the Year of the Ox myself. After he saw my lucky bracelet, he recommended that I buy a Nine Eye Dzi Bead this time as the Eight Eye Dzi Bead was very lucky for me last year, but for 2009, the Nine Eyes would be the ultimate Dzi Bead to don. No wonder, demand for genuine Nine Eyes Dzi Bead has increased so much, word has it that they have been sold out since November last year.
In any case, I just thought of writing about my lucky Dzi Bead because the Chinese New Year is just around the corner, on January 26, 2009.
So, may you have a more prosperous and healthy Chinese New Year or Year of the Ox, Everyone!
